City of Kingston - Masonry wall repair
The repair methodology was refined on-site to minimise demolition while improving structural performance.

Rectification works at Structure VB0008.

Works Undertaken:

The repair methodology was refined on-site to minimise demolition while improving structural performance.

  • Removal of deteriorated mortar joints along the cracked/separated section
  • Localised removal of two stones only where required to access internal defects
  • Cleaning and preparation of existing stones and joint interfaces
  • Installation of steel reinforcing bars within horizontal joints to improve tensile resistance and structural continuity
  • Reinstatement of joints using non-shrink grout (Fosroc Conbextra GP)
  • Packing and finishing of joints to ensure proper bonding and alignment

This method allowed strengthening of the wall while preserving the majority of the original structure.

Joint Sealing (Wall–Pavement Interface)

  • Cleaning and preparation of joint interface
  • Installation of compressible backing rod
  • Application of flexible sealant (Fosroc Nitoseal SC600)

Final finishing to ensure weatherproofing and flexibility
